About
Compound Radius
Formed during the global shutdown of 2020, Compound Radius emerged from isolation with a sound that refuses confinement. Rooted in rock but constantly mutating, their music absorbs funk, soul, folk, baul, Indian classical, electronic textures, crafty melody lines, and heavy metal - filtering influence through instinct, experimentation, and spiritual vibration.
A music producer, founder & frontman Radius (aka Radius Arnab Datta) leads as vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter, delivering lyrics in four languages - English, Bengali, Hindi, and Sanskrit. His writing balances spiritual depth with raw urgency and power. His wife Aditi Datta adds emotive female vocals complemented by expressive choreography expanding the band’s connection with a diverse audience. The rhythm and bass sections are primarily driven with punch and precision by CR's electronic production and periodically complemented live by their original line up bassist, the brilliant Dan Mackrill and supporting drummer Rajib Chakravorty
Active on the live circuit since September 2021, Compound Radius have quickly built a reputation for intense, immersive performances in diverse arenas. From high voltage rock venues to laidback lounges. From British summer music festivals to representing South Asian heritage & fusion music events in the UK.
A couple of major milestones includes:
-
July 2022 when they supported rock legend Graham Bonnet at London’s Boston Music Room marking the arrival of a band with global ambition
-
July 2025 performing at Wandsworth Arts Fringe, London Borough of Culture for the 'Echoes of Unity' concert
-
November 2025 - for a series of live performances called Compound Radius and Sounds of the World in an artistically exotic lounge in West London, Brentford called the House of ANIMA
